The Elm Slough project was a special project we had the pleasure of working on from start to finish here at Heritage Builders.
Our goal was to create a one-of-a-kind home that fit the needs of our clients, with the best finishes and craftsmanship available. From the stunning tile work and rain shower system in the master bath to the durable and beautiful bamboo floors, we are thrilled with the finished home. When you decide to build a custom home, the possibilities are endless and you are able to custom design the space to fit your wants and needs. The dog and mudroom featured in this home is a perfect example. By creating a dog washing station in the laundry room, our customers get the best of both worlds and exactly what their families needed. The living room features a wall of windows that allow the views to be enjoyed from almost any angle in the room. It opens onto a gorgeous tigerwood deck that will stand the test of time. The home also includes a full basement with plenty of storage solutions and also protects from any severe weather Kansas may bring during the warmer months. The kitchen is filled with beautiful custom cabinetry and lighting and the front entryway features the customer’s stained-glass piece that is absolutely stunning and the perfect welcome to their home.
From a young age accuracy, integrity, and striving for excellence have been core values for Kat. She graduated as valedictorian from her high school class and in her early 20s went on to co-found a successful business in the small Kansas town where she grew up. During this time she was also busy earning a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from Washburn University Small Business Development Center, studying Accounting and Business Management at Kansas State University, and raising a family.
In 2016 bigger dreams brought Kat to the city of Manhattan and ultimately Heritage Builders. Through her leadership on the Heritage team, she hopes to cultivate a company culture than is about so much more than just work. It is her goal to help people find their places in meaningful roles where they can better themselves and their community, all while creating an outstanding experience for their customers.
Outside of work, Kat most enjoys spending time with her best friend and husband, Logan, and their four children. They can often be found enjoying the great outdoors, traveling, cooking, playing sports and games, reading, gardening, crafting, and exploring life together.

He grew up in the small town of Linn, Kansas and currently resides in St. George, Kansas. Chad brings a great work ethic and quality workmanship to the team here at Heritage.
He especially enjoys meeting and working with the clients and insuring that the building process goes smoothly and accurately on each project. Chad and his wife, Ashtyn, recently welcomed their little girl into the world. They enjoy spending time with their dog, Mya, and cheering on the K-State wildcats.
Ron DeChant is an Owner and General Contractor of Heritage Builders. Ron grew up as a middle child in a family of four children. His parents moved his family to the small Kansas town of Onaga at a young age to pursue the family’s desire to raise their children away from the hustle and bustle of big city life in Denver, Colorado. Whether it was working in the yard or the garage with his father as a young kid, or working in the school wood shop for hours on end, Ron has always loved working with his hands and knew he wanted to use his skills to build dreams for others.
Ron graduated from Onaga High School in 1998, and after long and hard consideration, he decided not to attend Pitt State University. Instead, he chose to stay closer to home and his mother, and started working for himself doing small remodeling and framing jobs. In 2003 Ron teamed up with Heritage Builders and became a partner in the business. After years of building custom homes, spec homes, and doing contract framing and trimming, Ron saw the need for a reliable and trustworthy remodeling contractor in the Manhattan community and set out to become the very best in the area.
Family is the most import thing in Ron’s life and he has been blessed with a very supportive wife, Samantha, and their beautiful children, Penny and Everett. Ron and his family love being outdoors, camping, fishing, and cheering on the Wildcats! For Ron, Heritage is more than just a construction company. It is a family, a team, and a lifestyle. Heritage Builders is a company that is built on trust, reliability, hard work, and commitment to giving every customer their very best.
