This deck project originally began as a re-facing project that quickly turned into building a whole new deck. You can see in the pictures below where the framing of the house began to rot because the existing deck did not have any flashing. Have you checked to see if your deck has the proper flashing?
The new deck was framed with treated yellow pine and smooth cedar. The decking and railing posts are Ipe, a wood out of the rainforest and great for decks! We then topped it off with black powder-coated railings and a custom Wildcat! This deck has low to no maintenance. The Ipe will turn a smoke gray over time, or if you would prefer to keep that nice red color, all it takes is a simple oil rub down once a year after a good cleaning!
